The Southern Oregon Education Service District (SOESD) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Mark Angle-Hobson as the next Superintendent of SOESD, effective July 1, 2025. Current Superintendent Scott Beveridge will retire, completing his term on June 30, 2025.
Dr. Angle-Hobson brings more than 30 years of experience in education, including seven years of dedicated service within SOESD. He currently serves as the agency’s Director of School Improvement Services and Interim Deputy Clerk, where he has led transformative growth in programs, partnerships, and service delivery across the region.
“We are very excited to announce Dr. Mark Angle-Hobson as the next Superintendent of SOESD!” said Justin Wright, Chair of the SOESD Board of Directors. “We’re eager to support Mark as he continues to grow and evolve the SOESD. His guidance is crucial as we work to bring our diverse regions together and provide EVERY school and student in Southern Oregon with access to hard-to-find specialized staff and hard-to-afford services in a financially responsible way.”
A first-generation college graduate and the son of a West Virginia coal miner, Dr. Angle-Hobson holds a Doctorate and Master’s degree from the University of Virginia. His career spans the entire educational spectrum, from classroom teacher and principal to school district superintendent and university professor. His leadership philosophy is rooted in integrity, transparency, and the promise of education to change lives.
“I’m honored to step into the role of superintendent,” said Dr. Angle-Hobson. “SOESD has been my professional home for seven years, and I look forward to working alongside our board, dedicated employees, component districts, and community partners to build on our strengths and cultivate a culture where every educator, student, and staff member feels valued and supported.”
Dr. Angle-Hobson has outlined a comprehensive 90-day entry plan focused on fostering a positive workplace culture, enhancing employee morale, and strengthening recruitment and retention efforts. Central to his leadership approach is a collaborative process to refine the agency’s vision, mission, and strategic direction to better serve its component districts.
